If you believe that hearing similar information from two different sources makes it more likely that the information is true, then we can certainly expect the Samsung Galaxy S8 to be released in the third week of April.

Less than a week ago, we passed along a rumor that called for a global launch scheduled to take place on April 18th. That coincides with a new report disseminated today out of South Korea, from an industry source.

According to this unnamed tipster, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be released some time during the week of April 17th. And while the previously leaked April 18th launch date certainly fits within that time period, today’s report leaves open any of the days from Monday April 17th to Sunday, April 23rd.

Back in October, Samsung released a teaser that hinted at a February 26th unveiling of the Galaxy S8. This could still take place during a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona, the day before MWC 2017 kicks off. Samsung usually launches its flagship models two to four weeks after the unveiling.

With the delay this year, there could be a seven week gap between the introduction and the release of the Galaxy S8. Samsung might use this extra time to go over the device with a fine tooth comb, so that there is no repeat of the problems that forced the manufacturer to pull the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phablet from the market last year.

Today’s report calls for mass production of the Galaxy S8 to begin in March after Samsung receives components from its suppliers during February. Some secondary parts might not be delivered until April. The manufacturer hopes to ship 60 million units of the device, which would fall 10 million units short of the record number of Samsung Galaxy S4 units shipped in 2013.

The LG G6 is also expected to be unveiled during MWC. According to a rumor that we passed along to you earlier today, LG’s new flagship will launch on March 10th beating the Galaxy S8 to the marketplace by at least 5 weeks. Source: phonearena
