HTC Vive 2 launch is not likely to happen soon. The brands have introduced multiple devices at the CES 2017. So, it looks like HTC had no time to focus on HTC Vive 2.
At CES 2017, HTC launched Vive Tracker, Vive Audio Strap. Vive tracker is designed to support motion tracking in the VR world. It can work with the upcoming VR accessories like rifles, a baseball bat, a firehose and haptic gloves, according to MS Power User.
In fact, HTC fans did not expect the Vive 2 at CES 2017. But they strongly believe that the brand will launch Vive 2 very soon. Last week, there were loads of rumors about HTC Vive 2 launch. The company has released an official statement that it has no plans to launch Vive 2 at CES.
“There is no truth to the rumor of launching Vive 2 at CES 2017. At Vive, we are laser focused on building out a strong and growing ecosystem for current and future Vive owners so they can experience the best room-scale VR with the most compelling content available,” HTC’s statement reads.
The HTC Vive 2 features two 4K displays with the refresh rates of 120Hz. The current model of Vive has ?2160×1200 pixel resolution (1080×1200 per eye) and 90Hz refresh rate.
HTC will be bringing out a wireless device by ditching USB and HDMI cables. A Bulgarian virtual reality startup, Quark VR, is expected to create wireless headsets for HTC.
HTC is likely to name HTC Vive 2 as “Oasis”. According to TELEGIZ, the upcoming Vive 2 will pack room-scale technology. The current models have Lighthouses which are not really good. The brand will also create a new design for HTC Vive 2. The device will look thinner than Vive Original. HTC will also increase the resolution.
“This is year one as far as this set of virtual reality experiences go. I think with the amount of innovation going on in the space and the amount of players coming into space, I do think that innovation cycles will be sort of annual,” said, Rikard Steiber, SVP of Virtual Reality at HTC.
