The 2017 Subaru Legacy’s Trims And Powertrains

According to report, the 2017 Subaru Legacy is available in five trims from the base 2.5i, Premium, Sport, Limited and 3.6R Limited. The first four trims are equipped with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that is capable of putting out 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The top trim is powered by a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engine that delivers 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque.


Accordingly, these powertrains are paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that delivers the power through an all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain configuration.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the 2017 Subaru Legacy has an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy rating of 25/34/29 miles per gallon in the city, on the highway and combined respectively for its 2.5-liter engine.

The 3.6-liter powertrain on the other hands has an EPA rating of 20/28/23 miles per gallon in the city, highway and combined respectively as reported.

Technology And Safety Features

The 2017 Subaru Legacy does not disappoint in terms of features in both technology and safety. Wheels reported that the 2017 Subaru Legacy has the STARLINK for its infotainment and navigation system, paired with a 7-inch screen.

In the aspect of safety, the 2017 Subaru Legacy has the EyeSight system that includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, brake assist, camera monitoring system, high-beam assist, reverse automatic braking and pre-collision braking.

The 2017 Subaru Legacy has recently earned the Top Safety Pick+ honor from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Top Safety Pick+ is the highest honor in the IIHS’ annual event.
